Experiencing the four kinds of luck

Listening to this podcast clip of a conversation between Naval Ravikant and Babak Nivi about destiny and Naval explains that there are four kinds of luck.

I tried to look back at my life and spot the lucky moments, these moments changed the course of my life forever and I wanted to see how close they are to the 4 types Naval explained.

Meeting my wife

That was blind/dumb luck. A lot of people spend years and years trying to find their perfect match, we just met when we were 18 and we're together since then.

Working at Laravel

I think this was luck from hustling; I spent a year contributing to the framework almost on daily basis, writing blog posts, releasing packages, and trying to fix all reported bugs. That eventually lead to Taylor noticing me and offering me the job that changed my life.

Buying our first apartment

We did a year long research on the best place to live and worked every little bit of financial aspect. We got lucky by finding an apartment that we really love. I consider this to be luck from preparation.

Luck from your unique character

Being an employee at Laravel gave me a very unique character and attracted a lot of luck and opportunities.

I'm so lucky to be here now. Even though I had a few tough years in my teenage, I'm very grateful for all the opportunities I got so far and I hope I can be part of someone else's luck ๐Ÿ™‚
