I thankfully consider 2018 as a good year for myself and my wife, we've finally settled in our new place after 2 years of roaming around trying to find a place where we can start a family and live a healthy lifestyle.
I've also started doing new activities like kitesurfing, mountain biking, road cycling, and running. And since early November I started giving bicycle tours twice a week which helped me learn a lot about the city and meet new people.
Between work, searching for a place, moving, and having a bike crash and shoulder surgery I had very little time to work on side projects, this is something I want to change in 2019.
In this post I'd like to share my goals for 2019, hopefully 2019 will be as good as 2018 to me and my family.
Tech Blogging And Speaking
In 2019 I'd like to write more technical posts ,do live coding, and practise speaking. I really hope one day I'll be good enough to speak at Laracon. My targets for this year are:
- Refresh the design of DivingLaravel.com and post regular content.
- Publish monthly content on the Laravel Blog.
- Go live twice a month.
Reading In Different Topics
It's been a long time since I read a book on something other than tech. This year I'd like to read and watch documentaries on different topics other than web development, things I've never heard about before.
Working On Wink
In 2019 I'd like to continue working on Wink, my plan for it is to be the one stop shop for developers who want to create content-based websites, and I want it to continue as a free open-source project for the Laravel community.
Open Source Projects
I have a few packages that already have good traction, but I haven't been putting a lot of effort in these during 2018, so this year I'd like to give those packages dedicated hours in my week. I'd also like to find ways to contribute to Laravel's core and open-source packages by adding new features, already have a few ideas listed.
In 2018 I started cycling and running, and decided to stop training for freediving. This year I want to focus on endurance sports, specifically cycling, running, and swimming. I managed to do a 100km ride a couple of times in 2018 and ran 10kms a couple of times as well. My targets for this year are:
